Experts,

We are working on a upgrading an application from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. This application uses few DTS that contains ActiveX script task written in JScript. Before migrating these packages to SSIS we were thinking about an option moving the DTS packages as they are into SSIS using the Execute DTS package task in SSIS.

Has anyone had a similar experience ? If YES, please let me know

1) how far it is feasible ?
2) Whether the efforts would come down drastically if we use the DTS packages as they are instead of migrating to SSIS ?

Thanks in advance.

My view is that it's best to rewrite in SSIS as part of the migration.
But then I never approved of DTS.

If you are going to run DTS I would leave a v2000 server to run them rather than run it on v2005.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
