We are planning on migrating our SQL 2005 databases to 2008 on a new box - clean install of SQL Server. We have the machine OS configured with Windows Server 2008 Standard x64 and is fully patched. Any ideas/suggestions? Am I missing something really obvious?

You need to download (or however you receive the media) the x64 installer. They are different. You have the x86 installer.

for instance my enterprise edition evaluation disk contains both x64 and x86 installations but yours seems to have only x86
