...when I, after 2 weeks in my new job, I discover that the 3GB-soon-to-be-150GB database that I'll be 100% responsible for is based on an EAV model and a simple search for a customer involves a view with a 10-table deep join??

Well...luckily it's not all EAV, but a lot of it is. I didn't mention that it's a 3rd party tool with 999 tables (yes, ninehundredandninetynine) but now you know. I'll be sure to mention XML EAV to the provider when I get the chance
