If you want to see in query analyser how many rows are affected or want the extra recordset to be returned to ado.

Suspect there may be other reasons but ....

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

I always figured that if I change a setting in the beginning of a script, I should reset it when I'm done.
