 how to send emails through sql server 2000

hi all,
i am doing a task in which i want to send emails through sql server
i have gone through operator concept.
i created a new operator called opr1 but it is not working properly
can anybody help me solve this issue

you can use extended stored procedure xp_sendmail to send mail in sql 2000

Or if you have an SMTP server installed, you can send messages using activex script.

sakets_2000, can you use that method in a SQL Server job? I believe that you must use SQL Mail there.

Tara, You can use that in sql jobs as well.
