I would like to upgrade my personal computer to SQL Server 2008 to get familiar with it. However, all of our corporate systems are still on 2005. Should I be concerned about developing SSIS packages on my 2008 local computer knowing that I will later deploy them to SQL Server 2005? |

I might have found the answer to my own question.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522577.aspxThis talks about Side-by-Side Compatibility Issues and specifically says:"...Once saved in the format that SQL Server 2008 Integration Services uses, packages can no longer be opened in the SQL Server 2005 version of Business Intelligence Development Studio, nor run by the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services tools."This next link has other helpful articles about Integration Services Backward Compatibility, though not related to my specific question.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143706.aspx |
