I didn't really know which forum to put this in as it isn't really database related (not directly anyway) but I know how much experience people on this forum collectively have and so would appreciate any thoughts or constructive commentsI look after our website which is hosted internally. The site is soon to be taken down for a day so that some electrical testing work can be performed on the building where it is hosted. This building hosts all the boxes that point to the outside world, so they will also be down. (It seems a very long time to me for it to be down but I have no say in that.)Ironically (and unsuprisingly) the day it is to be down is probably one of our busiest in terms of the spending that is done on the site. Bear in mind that this is a government organisation and so is not profit driven, the day was chosen as most people here will not be at work that day.So my question is - does anyone know of a simple way that we can setup a temporary landing page, that just says something like - this site should be back up at 5pm. During this work there will be no boxes accessible from the internet and what I would ideally like is anyone typing in our url to hit this temporary landing page. Does anyone know if this is even feasible for a short period of time? Many thanks in advancesteve-----------ASCII and ye shall receive. |

You could rewrite your router to have incoming connections for your webserver to bounce to somewhere else. This "somewhere" else can have your message. E 12°55'05.63"N 56°04'39.26" |
