We are going to upgrade an are puchaseing SQL 2008.
Uprgading from 2000 should we upgrade to 2005 first?


I know I need to convert about 20 DTS packages to jobs.
And replace another 20 SQLmail instances with DB mail.

Total Size of all DBS around 6GB

Recomendatons?

2008.
same price as 2005 so why cut 3 years off product support... plus tons of new features, improvements and other stuff.

I believe he is asking whether or not you can go straight from 2000 to 2008 or if you have to upgrade to 2005 first and then to 2008.

We are buying the 2008

But it gives us the right to install 2005 and then upgrade to 2008.
The question is Should we?

well you can just backup the databases and restore them on 2008. i don't know about updating servers... i'd think you'd get new servers for 2008, no?

then install directly 2008. forget the upgrade.
