"2)some times after restarting the server, sql server will not start. why?"The questions are too general. Without knowing the exact situation, anything is possible.- somebody uninstalled SQL Server- some files was deleted / corrupted- the dog eat up the hard disk- . . .basically anything under the sun may be the reason of thisThe interviewer should not be asking WHY but How / What are the steps / area to check / troubleshoot KH
Time is always against us
|

1) Change password for SA account. Write the password on a note. Put the note in a safe. Drop the safe in the Mariner gorge. E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |

This may not always be a good idea. The crappy ERP system that I am forced to administer actually uses the SA account for everything. If I changed it, I would crash most of our systems. Go ahead, ask me how I learned this. |

I found a database being used by a building access/security application that was using MSDE with a blank SA password installed on an old laptop computer. I always wondered if everyone would be locked in or locked out of the building if I changed the password.CODO ERGO SUM |

I didn't bother because it wasn't at a site I work at, so I wouldn't have the pleasure of seeing everyone standing outside in freezing winter weather.CODO ERGO SUM |

Build some trojans into the master database so that if you get fired for dicking around on Facebook all day, the whole server and the data falls apart and they beg you to come back and fix it. Then you can up your rate.quote: 2)some times after restarting the server, sql server will not start. why?
You restarted the WRONG SERVER!!!! OMG(either that or the user you were running SQL Server under has it password expired or changed, blame the domain admins then spend the rest of the week on Facebook while the problem gets resolved)Damian"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." - Emerson |
