I just checked the IP address of willow_mimi and MikeZ as I had a suspicion. They are the same person. willow_mimi == MikeZThat's really low, willow_mimi, to compliment your own post as another user.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog |

Then lets save some time and just copy/paste the entire contents of Books Online into a post. I'm sure there's stuff in there that some people don't know. And be sure to plug your blog while you are at it.e4 d5 xd5 Nf6 |

This post regarding not using "sp_" is obviously common knowledge, but I would be interested if anyone has a article that lists accepted standards for naming different objects. (I.e Stored Procedure = Sproc_, Function = fn_ or F_, etc). |

Everyone's style is different. Here is what we use:Sprocs: usp_ for applications, rsp_ for reports, and isp_ for internal DBA stuffFunctions: udf_Views: v_There are people who hate prefixes like these, such as Graz (owner of the site). I believe he's got an article on it. I don't care except for views and table-valued functions as I'd like to know by looking at the query that it's a view or a table-valued function rather than a regular table.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog |

Ha, worked on a few dbs where through some migration/upgrade it was decided to prefix tbl_ to some views where the actual table no longer exists. good times. |
