Hi MladenI haven't installed 1.0 yet but I loved the Beta . Not sure how feasible this is however I would like to be able to script out the data of N tables (not individually, not the whole database, just selected tables). I keep population scripts in source control for lookup tables (yes blindman - I know ) for fresh deployments. It would be nice to be able to invoke the generation of population scripts for a selection of tables so I don't have the overhead of comparing data in the database against source control. Even better would being able to save these groups so I can run the process again very quickly in the future. |

2008 has intellisense. I would cast your eyes over what is available in prompt-SQL and see if any of that would be decent functionality for this. I use prompt sql for the intellisense but the other little tit-bits in there are useful too (most especially snippets for example). Also - this might be more than is feasible but.... nowadays, with web 2.0, I am starting to find it inconvenient when I am restricted by having x on one PC and y on another. My bookmarks are on the web, I've got document stores on the web etc. - synchronisation is no longer an issue for these things. Is it possible to synchronise changes to templates, settings, scripts etc on to a secure, hosted server so new installations can be automatically configured based on the settings stored here? If that's a bit much, would an XML configuration import & export option be possible? |

well... a hosted server would require paying for it. and since the pack is still free it's not financially feasible i might make a "professional version" that would be payable... will think about it.i am already considering import export options and snippets.i use katmai ssms for intellisense _______________________________________________Causing trouble since 1980Blog: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenpSpeed up SSMS development: www.ssmstoolspack.com <- version 1.0 out! |

Oh lord. You can just hook up the 2008 SSMS from the CTP to 2005 right? Christ I am dim - I never thought of that. Bye bye SQL Prompt! |

I have found SQL prompt to be very irritating. I'm curious, how many of you guys like it?An infinite universe is the ultimate cartesian product. |

+1. It has its flaws but speeds up my work enormously. This is really brought home if ever I am called to do something on a colleague's install of SSMS. @spirit1 - thanks. Have you used that? |

yes, i even helped the guy with some problems. i used it in ssms 2005 but since now i'm using katmai ssms i don't need 3rd party intellisense anymore.it seems that all of a sudden i'm the autority on building ssms add-ins.... _______________________________________________Causing trouble since 1980Blog: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenpSpeed up SSMS development: www.ssmstoolspack.com <- version 1.0 out! |
