I just started at a new company this week. They are using a clustered 64 bit Windows 2003 R2 installation with SQL 2005. The current setup is 2 node with quorum. One active one passive. I noticed that the active node is getting pretty heavy usage during the day and want to change over to active/active. The databases are all on the SAN with Fiber linking to the servers. I can not seem to find any information on how to change the mode in Windows 2003. I seem to remember in Windows 2000 it was done from cluster admin, but nothing is there in 2003. I have been reading as much as I can, but at this point need some help on where to look so I can create the project plan and implementation steps etc.I look forward to your inputRayRaymond LaubertMCITP:Administration, MCThttp://www.rd-webhosting.comHome Based Business Library and Hosting |

There is nothing to change to make it active/active. You just need to have a SQL instance running on both nodes. That's what makes it active/active.Make sure you've purchased licenses for an active/active setup though.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Database maintenance routines:http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/archive/2004/07/02/1705.aspx |
