Can you download to any folder? What version of Vista are you using? Have you checked your Windows firewall settings? Are you logged into your laptop as an administrator?

What is the full message you get?

If you turn off the firewall as a test does it work? I would try that just to confirm if it is the firewall or not, if it is then it is probably blocking FTP.

Hi Zoroaster,
I finally got it to work. I created an account as an admin, however i read some docs, that adviced i right click the ftp app, and run as admin. Which i did, so i got it up and running.

My firewall is still on. Thanks a great deal

No problem, you are right with Windows 2000 and up you can "Run As" with right click.
