No.I'd recommend for a DR server that the principal and mirror be the same though. Imagine that your mirror server has lesser hardware than the principal and a disaster situation occurs. Can your mirror hardware support production?Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Hi Tara,Nope - the SLA states that in a failed situation, the performance will be degraded. The mirror shouldn't have to work for too long in a production role,(i would hope) but it shouldn't be in that role for more than 4 hours.but the DR site should be the same as the primary site - but we'll see where that statement goes LOLthanktony |

You can't make assumptions on how long the mirror would be in use for production as there are varying degrees of a disaster. Your plan should include options where the primary site is completely gone. If you've got a very small application and database, then it probably won't matter how small of a server is at the DR site.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |
