Where are the "twin citied"? </VeryThickMode>In England we have a number of towns and villages "twinned" with towns in France and other parts of Europe. It was something which started in the 60's or thereabouts to make us all more "European" - and as an excuse for the villagers to tootle over to their French counterpart village and have some nice wine and cheese ...Each village had its sign changed to say "ABC (twinned with ABC)"We were driving through remote countryside the other day and came to a tiny village; it had about 2.5 houses ... and the village sign said:"ABC (twinned with Paris)"Paris! Paris! I ask you ... how pretentious is that?And what's the French for Pretentious anyway? Kristen |
