Anyone attempt to interface with exchange 2007 in a SQL environment yet?

I have been haveing fun converting to exchange 2007 this week as our current mail server is on its last legs.

Why did these idiots not us SQL as the back end??????

It has still not SQL Server ac backend?
There has been talk about this long back for Exchange 2003.

My guess is that it has something to do with not wanting to rewrite a few million lines of code.
