I've noticed an awful lot of MySQL and even Oracle questions lately. I think that part of the problem might be that the website is not branded strongly enough as a "Microsoft SQL Server" website; in fact, on the home page, I don't see the words "Microsoft" or "SQL Server" anywhere prominent, and on the forum home page the words "SQL" jump out at you over and over, but the phrase "SQL Server", while shown quite a few times, still doesn't really stand out.Maybe a "subtitle" near the logo on the page headings that includes the words "Microsoft SQL Server" (i.e., "Your Microsoft SQL Server resource!" or something silly like that) might help ? Or some other solution? just some ideas .... but I can honestly see how someone might get confused and think that this is a generic "SQL" website, even the name SQLTeam (which I love) is pretty generic, so I can't really blame the posters *too* much ...Any thoughts?- Jeffhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/JeffS |

I'm with you. Although I don't think we see many Oracle/MySQL questions, per se - given how many the name "SQLTeam" probably attracts ...I'm presuming TPTB have no appetite to add specific forums for other database brands?Kristen |

There used to be a heading on each page that said it was for Microsoft SQL Server questions. I don't think the number of Oracle, MySQL, DB2, Sybase, etc. questions increased after it was removed. It may not be that bad a thing anyway, and someone usually points them a better place to post. The only time it is frustrating is when you have spent sometime trying to help someone, and you finally realize they are using DB2, Oracle, or Access. There have been some posters that ignored it even after it was pointed out to them by several people, so unless you can figure out a way to keep completely clueless people from posting, I don't think they can be eliminated.
