I made two changes to the site this morning while the city didn't plow the snow off my roads. I updated the site search to use Google Coop. This should provide better searching. It also lets you search the blogs and forums separately.

I also added something I'm calling "The SQL Search". Google Coop allow you to build a search that only searches specific sites. I built a "search engine" that only searches high quality SQL Server sites. Right now I have about twenty-five sites in it. Test it out and let me know what you think. Also let me know if there are other sites you'd like to see added to it.

Might be an idea to list which sites are "in" on that page - so that people don't keep recommending sites to you that are already "in" ??

Hmmm. That's harder than it looks. And a good idea. I updated the documentation on the search page. You can easily check to see if an individual site is in the search. They don't have an automatic way to list the sites in the search. A bunch of people have requested it so maybe they'll add it.

Pedantic point (sorry about that!)

"The SQL Search" in the menu at the top of the page does not underline on mouse-over like the other links do.

Dunno if that would cause some folks to not realise that it could be clicked - but I suppose it might!!

Isn't feedback great?....
"The SQL Search" in the menu at the top of the page does not underline on mouse-over like the other links do."
It works now.

Interesting. And I haven't even changed things yet :) After a little testing it appears that the underlines work in IE7 but not in FireFox 2.0. Oh well. I'll see if I can't spend some time on it.

Well now that's weird. In IE7 I see all the menu links on the top underline except the RSS one. And the only difference there is that it's off-site.

I'm still on IE6 on this machine (and not seeing it underline)

I assumed it was something to do with the Quotes, but on reflection that doesn't make sense. The HTML is as simple as can be:

<a href="/sqlsearch.asp">"The SQL Search"</a> |
<a href="/submitlink.asp">Submit Link</a> |
...

and I can't for the life of me see how the CSS could treat those two <a> tags differently ...

If I view source and save it to me C: drive, and change the relative references to absolute ... it works fine and underlines all the links :-(

Ha! Looks like its the VISITED style. Once I click on any of the links they are then non-underlined thereafter.
