wow, what a storm.

anyone else in the seattle area over the weekend?

a month of rain to saturate the ground and loosen tree roots, and then a huge windstorm. what's next?

17 hours without power, that was no fun. I knew it was pretty major when I looked across the bay at Bellevue and saw it was dark too...

I was in one of those dark houses in bellevue.

We got power back on saturday night, after almost 48hrs without. just a few blocks away from us there is block after block that is still dark.

at least no trees fell on our house. can't say the same for the poor neighbor across the street though. Nobody injured there thankfully.

roads at snoqualmie pass are bare and dry right now. I'm sure they are dark though still. Not a good idea to go up there at night if you can avoid it.

here's a pic of some of the destruction this storm caused - this is just down the street from the house of a guy I work with. and he made it to work today somehow!

Well they are going back and burying them, it just takes quite a bit of time.

Most new housing developments in the suburbs have buried cables. but where there are already poles, they usually stay in place. I guess the expense of burying them is greater than fixing them when when they happen to fail.

Plus, I don't think you can't bury the big HV lines running from the hydroelectric dams across the state, and many of these were damaged as well. I would like to have seen the sparks!
