Hi, a question that s been bothering me for a while.

Is it true that we have to start as an application support or technical support agent before we can become a programmer or is that a fairy tale?

I am new to this and I want to know the truth not what managers are trying to convince me.

Thank you for your advice

Yeah, me either. We needed some manual stuff automated at work one day and that started the ball rolling for me. While I do reccomend that doing tech support is a great way to learn an app, it's not entirely necessary. We usually put new people on supporting & researching bugs because they learn a lot crawling around the guts of the app. But they do some development as well.
