Do any of you pull your personal webmail (gmail, yahoo, etc) into your Outlook client on your work machine? Is this safe? Meaning, does this pull the email onto the Exchange server where the wandering eyes of our 18 year old junior network admin can take a look? Or is it pulled directly to the Outlook client?

My Gmail POP connection requires SSL... but does that mean its encrypted from the workstation to the Gmail mail server? Or From our Exchange Server to the Gmail Server?

Sorry guys, I know this is a social SQL forum but I always think of sqlteam first when I have technical related questions.

Thanks for any input

If you set up a POP account in Outlook, it will connect directly to your POP server.
However, if you let that mail stay in your inbox, it will be stored inside the exchange server.

You can set up a second PST file, and have a rule to move all mail from your pop account to there. This just leaves stuff you send staying in your sent items (which is synced with exchange), but you can delete those.

"but you can delete those."

Or move them, too, to your second PST file

Can you do that with a rule ? I haven't seen that one. I'll investigate that, it would make me happy.

Blank rule : Check messages after sending : ...

Depends on whether you can identify the messages that you want to move to the 2nd PST of course!

I have a rule for:

Apply this rule after I send the message
defer delivery by 5 minutes
except if it is marked as high importance

which allows me to ... errmmmm ... change my mind if I was a bit heated, or too hasty on the SEND button
