What about a Yak Geeks forum (Yeeks) where we can discuss all the latest geeky techy stuff What about a Margherita forum where we can all discuss new recipes (and Brett can explain the best hangover cures!)What about a phone forum where we can discuss whether I should get this http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp1_loader&php=php1_10336&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10336thishttp://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp1_loader&php=php1_10447&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10447thishttp://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp1_loader&php=php1_10407&zone=pp&lm=pp1&pid=10407or this babyhttp://www.gsmarena.com/lg_kg920-1467.phpWhat about a whinging forum where we can all whinge about stuff that is annoying usWhat about I just shutup and go sit in a corner, nurse my tequila induced hangover and try to work out how to blame Brett for it steve-----------Don't worry head. i heard from several people that razr crashes a lot...also heard from a few that it works ok AFAIK here on the continent motorola had below average phones these past few years.User interface sucked big time. But it's improving slowly...Nokia was the example of simple brilliance in that area.plus it had better phones Go with the flow & have fun! I have a k800i on order, so, once I get it, I'll let you know if it's any good. I suppose it really depends on what you want. You linked to three very different phones - a business / pda type phone, a musicy type phone, and a phone who's biggest selling point is the cybershot camera branding. Personally I was looking for the k800 as a backup for when I need to take a quick snap, but haven't gone out with all my camera gear.-------Moo. :) |

Thanks that would be great.Perhaps I should explain my situation with phonesI had an SE t68i which I liked a lot. Eventually I swapped it for a Nokia smartphone which everyone said was brilliant. I hated it. Had it 11 months and never got used to it completely. Eventually gave it to my mum who seems to quite like it. I then went back to SE and have a k750i which I like quite a lot but the joystick is going on it after a year of abuse. I've always fancied the PPick a number series from SE partly because of its pda functionality then got a Tungsten t3 which I use a lot and can synch to Groupwise which we use here. So the P990 is probably just duplication of functionality I already have - though I do like the idea of posting on here from my phone while sitting watching tv in the lounge - but then I can do that on my PSP on a better screenI don't have an MP3 player and am not 100% convinced I would use one but I do sometimes play music on my phone which is partly why that functionality appeals with the SE'sWith the k800 I am a little concerned that it is too similar to the k750 I already have.As for the LG, it looks as though it will be here soon. I think it's ugly but the 5Mp camera appeals and the functioality appears to be similar to the SE's though my venture into Nokia territory makes me nervous about leaving SE.I think the RAZR is a very cool phone but there are newer ones now that are cooler - look at the LG chocolate for example I think in summary the k800 is the best option for me but it does seem a rather "safe" one. I like my phones to be exciting and new - have to have a little excitement now and again! By monday with luck and a following wind I may have one, though they are scarce at the mo.As for jogging - Jen, shame on you, I thought you were an IT geek. We have standards to maintain you know steve-----------Don't worry head. The computer will do all the thinking from now on. |

Well the K800's exciting point is the 3MP camera really. It also has a real flash - though reviews I've seen have said that night shots with the flash are a bit of a let down. It has an MP3 player, but you'd have to get a memory stick to make the best use of it (and the camera for that matter). With the LG, consider that it's not a 3G phone, it's not out now, and the 5MP is really going to be pushing it with the size of sensor that these phones have. It's likely to suffer in overall quality. Of course only you can decide if the phone is too similar to your current model. I know it's different from mine :)-------Moo. :) |

Also I have (currently) an old P800. Now, admittedly, this was one of the first smart phones, and there's been a few revisions since, but, to be honest, I hate it. I've not got on with it from the minute I bought it, and have suffered with the stupid thing for years. It's too big, clunky and slow, and consistently crashes if the sound is turned on. I'd never buy a smart phone again.-------Moo. :) |

Thanks mr_mist all good points. I'm not sure I care about 3g living out in the sticks! What is it? Why would I want it? If it's for video calling I definitely don't want it!I've taken another look at the SE site and I think the k800 may be the way to go. I went to see the Who recently and the pics on my phone are all blurred Probably my fault, but I know that the k800 takes a whole load of pics and allows you to keep the best (not sure if you can keep more than one). The flash is an interesting idea, at first I thought they just meant a different type of light (and to be honest I find the light/torch useful occasionally, I wonder if the flash will do the same things) butI now realise it is more like a proper flash. It's interesting that SE consider it highly enough that they brand it cybershotsteve-----------Don't worry head. the chocolate from LG looks good but it looks like it's gonna snap at any momentcompare the following phones, these are actually in my list before I decided on the razr v3x (lovely little thing )1. O2 mini S2. K8003. W900i4. P990i5. Nokia N series, N6280never considered samsung because you get 'ribbon' problem with the flip types if you drop it, unlike with SE, no matter how many times it's dropped, still working also, it's good that you 'handle' the phone first, i look for good grip and weight (not too heavy and not too light) and ofcourse key sizes and placing...i wish they produce a cellphone with wifi, not those bulky PDA, if it can't fit on my palm and I need to use 2 thumbs to type then it's no good--------------------keeping it simple... |

Apparently it's a british term - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/whinging quote: It, er, makes phone calls
Arnold, why on earth would you want to do that??More seriously I use the camera quite a bit at work. saves squeezing into awkward corners or moving kit and disturbing all the lovely dust that gathers when you just want a serial number or something like thatquote: all that i still use it just for calls and SMS-ing.
OK I take the hint I am just wierd. I use all sorts of functionality on my phone at various times. For example if I have to use the train I use WAP to check the up to date train times (only use I ever found for WAP!)and to see if they are running late. Then when on the train I can listen to my own music or the radio, I can even do a quick check of my email to see if there is anything that looks important. When my home internet connection went down the other week the only way to contact my ISP - (couldn't find their phown number anywhere) was to surf the net on my phone and log the call. I use the countdown timer when cooking. I use the calendar to remind me of things like birthdays. I know my Palm can do all this and more but that sometimes crashes and loses data! the phone doesn't seem to, which is partly why I am keen on the P990The other day I couldn't remember the PIN number for my credit card because of how rarely I use it- I have it stored in my phone! My phone has a memory stick in it so I can use it to transfer files from home to work and back. Our garage can be really dark at night so I tend to set the light on for one minute so I can see what I am doingMost of these are minor on their own but all together they make the functionality something I would probably miss.steve-----------Don't worry head. Sprit are we talking about the same phone?? I have to disagree, I think it it very stylish. As for flip phones, all the ones I have ever seen have v small screens, though I would agree about the buttons. When you are as cack handed (Michael, not sure if you will have to look that one up!) as I am you need well thought out buttons. That was the one thing that my old nokia 7610 got mostly right.Given that I have a contract these phones tend to be free and I can change it yearly Wiffy is a big fan of Samsung's she likes the slidey onessteve-----------Don't worry head. The problem with the razr v3x is that the point of the razr was that it was meant to be thin, and the v3x is no longer thin. (in comparison)quote: I'm not sure I care about 3g living out in the sticks! What is it? Why would I want it?
