A wonderful one Seriously though, if this is your homework... you should quit the course before the damage is irrepairableDamian"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." - Emerson |

I think I remember a similar question in a class I took in college, on a quiz, maybe the second day of class, after the concept of what is a database was introduced. Though, I think it was more true or false i.e. The world wide web is a form of a database. True or False? Not that even that was a good question, but it was an Oracle course ~Travis |

Yeah, I don't think it was a question with regards to relational databases... it's a database in the same sense that a paper ledger is a database or an Excel file is a database, more like "Yes, it's a database in the broadest and most general sense of the word, in that it stores mass amounts of data and when used correctly one can query it to find information... and p0rn." I don't recall if I got high marks in that class...~Travis |

google is indeed my bestfriendhttp://smithsonian.yahoo.com/timeline.htmlhttp://ei.cs.vt.edu/book/chap1/web_hist.htmlwow... so it's just a huge directory but a directory must have some database system to store the links unless they're embedded and nobody can determine who used which database system first...i knew i shouldn't have skipped classestime to dig up, curiosity getting the best of me--after a minute or sohttp://www.slac.stanford.edu/history/earlyweb/firstpages.shtmlis this it? amazing...--------------------keeping it simple... |
