A customer of mine has begun to send me MS Project attachments via email. I am MS Project illerate.

I see Project listed on the net for anywhere from $199 to $599, seems MS Project 2003 is the most recent release. I'm not absolutely sure these are the same software packages. Maybe some are not legal copies??

Any advice on where to buy and what to buy?

You need to make sure you know what version they're sending...looks like they've exploded the functionality with 2003

Couldn't they use a PDF-print-driver to send you a PDF file instead? Or are they expecting you to learn how to use it and extract your own information? (I would have thought an assumption like that would leave the Project Manager discovering that he should have spoon-feed the people a bit more!)

I'd suggest going back to your customer and ask them to export the project into Excel format. If you just need to view the information in the project, this is the simplest format to use, and it exports nicely.

Interesting. Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management runs on SharePoint Services and SQL Server 2000. Looks like a good way to sell more server licenses; I saw that at least one feature required SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition.
