my last post took 25 seconds according to the timer at the bottom of the page. Anyone else seeing a slowdown?

I think it's just picking on you.

Nah, had a few that were a little slow, but nothing consistent.

This is related to the number of subscriptions in this forum. An insert into a forum with no subscriptions is under one second. A little later tonight (i.e. when I'm less busy) I'll think through this a little more. The solution is most likely going to be disabling subscriptions at the forum level until I can find a better way to process these.

Graz, would cleaning up some of the really old subscriptions work?
I know I'm subscribed to a bunch of things that I don't care to be subscribed to anymore.

With the volume of posts that come through, I'm surprised anyone subscribes to an entire forum. I can see subscribing to a single thread, but a whole forum?

I didn't get a chance to work on it last night. Michael, I think you're right on the first step. I'll probably clear out a bunch of older subscription topics. I think there are something like 20,000 total subscriptions. I also need to look at the Snitz code and make sure it's not pulling them all and checking on the client.

I've also been considering some type of batch system to send them. I'll have to look into that too. There may be something already written for Snitz I can use.

Mark, I don't allow forum level subscriptions to the really active forums (Developer, Administration, etc.). Only forums like Site News, Yak Corral, etc.

Hey Graz, I saw an article on making a mail queue that might be helpful.
