Does anyone know of an unzip tool natively compiled for 64bit windows (IA64 specifically)?

Apparently the unzipping code that comes with 32bit win2003/winxp is nowhere to be found in the 64bit release. Also, all the tools I know of are only compiled 32bit and they run dog slow on the 64bit system.

Any help is appreciated. thx.

You can try WinRar:

http://www.rarlab.com/

The Windows version can do Zip files, but the command line utility only does RAR files. There might even be a 64 bit version available.

And the Athlon 64 chip runs the 32 bit version lightning fast. Might be time to switch.

none of the 32bit software that is out there (winzip, winrar, 7zip, etc.) runs acceptably on the itanium platform. There is also nothing compiled natively for 64bit at this point. oh well.

I did find out that the compressed folder capability (native zip file support) will be included in SP1 for win2k3 64bit. Atleast it is included in the current build of SP1 for win2k3 64bit, they couldn't guarantee that it would make it to the final build. No idea when that will be released though.

Is it just those programs, or ALL 32 bit software? That really sucks. Could be why they're abandoning the Itanium architecture.

all 32bit code basically sucks when you run it on the itanium.

64bit native stuff is incredible however. The 64bit SQL server kicks some serious ass. It's a shame that a lot of other tools that you become used to having around, aren't as kick-ass.
