Hey all,
I'm in search of a consultant or a consultant company that can provide the following:

1. Examine a production system
2. Find bottlenecks (Hardware / Software)
3. Propose solutions to those bottlenecks with some sort of documentation that shows that this solution will solve the problem.

If someone can point me in the direction of someone to talk to about this it'd be great.

Thanks all!

Michael

Have you tried Microsoft Consulting? We've used them in the past and have been very happy with the work. Not sure who you would contact for this, but if you have a MS representative or an account with them, then they can probably point you in the right direction.

If you could give me remote access I could probably do it.
Or usually a description of the system and the symptoms is enough - or if not at least enough to give a method to diagnose the problems.

Send me an email if you're interested.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Brett,
Yeah, it sorta is my job. We want an expert 3rd party perspective on the problem to make sure that my "educated guess" is correct.

Tara MS Consulting Thanks for the tip.
Nigel Thx for the offer, but I think that Mgmt. wants someone on-site with some magic tools to provide reports etc and backup their reccomendatation with some sort of warrenty.

Is there any other company that I should look into as well??

that sucks. Good that you have a say in who to bring in. Usually management will bring in a bunch of clowns who don't know anything.

If you hava an MS Premier support contract, your TAM will get someone who can do it, and you have already paid for it (If you have the Support Contract).

Anyone have suggestion other than Microsoft consulting?
Is that the "only" way to go?

They won't give you a warranty either I'm afraid. They would be stupid to do that.

Sounds like you need Andersen's - they're good at reports on things they know nothing about.
oops too late - they were found out weren't they.

So you want someone to produce reports and guarantee their recomendations - good luck.
Or do your management just want to get out of paying - because anyone can fix a system to make sure improvements don't show any affect.

Sounds a bit like a lot of companies I've been to who are in a mess but want to make it as difficult as possible for anyone who knows what they are doing to show them up.

I think the warrenty thing might be a bit over the top.
I think what we are looking for is for someone to come in, analyze the system, and make reccomendations to allow us to double our capacity and allow for further scaling down the road.

Reports would be a plus, but I'm guessing there has to be some sort of report as to the reccomendataions right?
