According to a document from Microsoft, Windows virtual memory pagefile should be at least 1,5 times of physical memory.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187877.aspxDo you know what the best practice is? I have 36 GB of RAM for the server. Also, should we really allocate a pagefile with size of 54GB initially on a separate physical drive? I believe on a partition on the same drive, it will not help much due to disk head movements. Or, should we completely not allowing pagefile.sys usage.Another related question is: if we assign let's say 32GB Max. for SQL Server and it uses all available memory under heavy load, will it use the pagefile.sys or just choose data on the buffer pool as victims to open physical memory, as a result decreasing Page Life Expectancy?Murathttp://ipad2keyboard.nethttp://ipad2covers.org |
