I am having intermittent issues with msdb assigning the wrong media_set_id to BackupSet during a restore log operation. For instance the latest one has assigned the media_set_id of a restore that took place on a different database (indeed a different server!) around 6 months ago. This seems to happen fairly randomly every few weeks. It seems similar to an issue to that described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821334/ I am running SQL2k SP4 - 8.00.2039 It is only a problem because I am logshipping based on this data, so if there is no obvious resolution I will have to rewrite that.
