IMHO

Ask the expert day should be for your benefit, so you should be looking for questions that can solve your own sql problems - or enhance certain areas of your system at your place of work. It's not going to be as beneficial if you ask him other peoples questions, now would it?

Also, id love to hear how an expert might approach the problem of tracking user activity in a system where a common login is used (webuser).

Short of passing in a UserID to every procedure in place, I dont see a clean way of implementing this directly at the db level. Ive seen some articles where developers have tried to leverage context_info or spid-based solutions, but of course connection pooling makes this complicated.

How about how to clean up a database? We have Sharepoint Teamsites here that have not been accessed for 2 - 4 years, but when you ask the user about them, they invariably say "That's vital information! Don't delete it!".

Just delete the old data.

If anyone complains, tell them you know nothing about it, and suggest it must have been something they did.

Tell them you're going to do it in one month and they must send you a list of all the things they need. You will get no responses. Then pull the plug and see who screams!

Those are tough. The only one I have been able to solve so far is the Riemann Hypothesis.
