We're off on holiday on Thursday. It all looks a bit energetic to me ... I mean, nearly 15 miles every-other-day ...

that looks like an excellent time! I wish my wife liked to cycle...

15 miles will go fast, just an hour (or two if you are really slow). I biked 90 miles this past July 4!

have fun!

just get some EPO or HGH or daily blood transfusions and you'll be fine

15 miles in 2 days?

You could walk it if you can manage a one mile per hour pace.

"daily blood transfusions"

Good plan, I see from their web site that that is an optional extra, thanks!

"15 miles in 2 days?"

No MVJ, you didn't read the post properly. Its 15 miles in ONE day, and then a day off. Very strenuous ...

I'll report back when the project is completed ...

Back now.

Strongly recommended. Had a fabby time. And the Tour de France came right past the front of our hotel which was an added bonus.

The French, bless them!, have tarmaced over their old deserted railways - presumably using EC grants funded by Us Brits - and the tow-paths etc. alongside the rivers to make very agreeable cycle tracks. The old stations have been converted to Bike Rental stores, all surounded by sleepy French countryside. And I've got somewhat fit (offset the Effort with the Gourmet French cuisine!) in the process.

I'm very seriously tempted to adopt this as a Summer complement to skiing in the Winter.

I bought a couple of Chateaus that I liked the look of whilst I was there. Let me know if you want to stay there ...

that sounds like a nice vacation and really good timing/planning with the tour being in town at the same time. For some reason just catching a glimpse of the peleton as it speeds by sounds really cool to me.

Also, this thread got me thinking about vacations and such. Since we have an international group that frequents sqlteam, I was wondering how much vacation time you all typically get and are actually able to use?

I get 3 weeks of vacation per year, and can have up to double that on the books max (if I don't use it all in a single year) However, I stop accruing vacation as soon as I hit my max. Unfortunately, I have only used my full vacation a couple of times in the last 8 or 10 years.

you know... we could make an sqlTeam world gathering... say somewhere in Asia... maybe Thailand or Philipines
It's not very expensive so everybody can come, plus it's a great vacation spot.

no vacation time as such. The downside of consulting. Ofcourse I get paid for any OT. so if I can plan in advance I can make up with OT's (if its < 10-15 hrs). anything higher I have to take a cut
