My boss calls me from another site and asks me if the software we purchased (Asset Tracking Software) has the ability for move-add-change. Didn't really understand what he meant by that and he said move-add-change is a common term in IT for asset tracking. Does anyone know what he is talking about ?

OK, whatever it is, your boss shuld be able to explain what he is looking for.

Buzz words are all the rage, and they some times never mean the same thing...

ETL, sheesh

E: Extract..used to mean unload

T: Transform, used to mean DML

L: Load. Well I guess Load still means load..but in reality, in this case it really means INSERT INTO

I have not heard "move add change" as a buzzword, yet, but I tend to stay in my ivory hovel as much as I can.

"Load" used to mean "restore". And "dump" was "backup". And remember, you define devices in 2KB pages, but segments are defined in MB.
