i read this on a random site:
quote:

According to the 2004 Census report, Idaho's population is 1,393,262. Just for comparison, there are 1,970,000 cows in Idaho. New rule: if your state has more cows than people, you don't get to be a state anymore.

now that's the funniest thing i read all day

What are the implications for New Zealand, which has more sheep than people? Does it not get to be a country anymore, or has it already been downgraded to the largest hollywood filmstage in the world?

"The world cattle population is estimated to be about 1.3 billion head, with about 30 percent in Asia, 20 percent in South America, 15 percent in Africa, 14 percent in North and Central America, and 10 percent in Europe. The 10 states in the US with the largest cattle populations are Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Kansas, Iowa, Kentucky, and Florida."

Cow Fun Facts:
Dairy cows can produce up to 200 lbs of farts and flatus (burps) a day!
There are (as of 1988) 98,990,000 cows in the USA.
Texas has the most with over 13 million cows.

I'm skeptical about the 200 lbs of farts. How do you weigh farts?

... and we have 13 mill. pigs in Denmark, and this is not including the human population of about 5.4 mill.
