I think everyone was just brutally honest.Seriously, if the guy can't do that simple exercise on his own, he should fail the class and flunk out of college. That would be a good thing. The world has more than enough stupid, lazy developers that can't get the job done.OK, maybe that's a little brutal. CODO ERGO SUM |

actually, it should have been a wake up call for him (that he probably made a mistake on choosing his course/class or doesn't have the motivation to pass the subject)in fairness, the guys gave him more than a nudge at the right direction but he kept insisting on being given the actual syntax - approach of others (not his own approach mind you) or he honestly didn't understand what's posted? sqlteam feature: homework forum? atleast newbies/students/homework cheaters can share their problems and let each othe solve it. more like an online class brainstormingyeah I know, there's a newbie forum but posters kept misinterpreting newbie=let sqlteam do the work for you thingie and we'll just copy and paste the solution (or run the query perhaps? )--------------------keeping it simple... |

This guy actually emailed me directly and told me it was not homework, but rather a take home from a job interview. He continued to tell me "I am more of a developer than a dba. It is very important that I get this job."Yikes!Nathan Skerl |

I hope you didn't help him. Or at least I hope he isn't getting a job where I work; we have more than enough dead-weight developers.quote: Originally posted by nathans This guy actually emailed me directly and told me it was not homework, but rather a take home from a job interview. We had a booth at a local job fair where we had 'applicants' writing some code on laptops; one prospective 'employee' was using his cell phone to copy some code from a web page, and he presented it to us as his own work and proud of it. He went so far as to inquire about how much we were going pay him and what company perks there were. All I wanted to know from him was why he was submitting PASCAL code for a DBA job.True story!AndyThere's never enough time to type code right, but always enough time for a hotfix... |
