I'm talking about jcelko, of course. He's not studying Decent Human Behavior for at least a year before reposting, is he? His DHL (Decent Human Language) isn't even Kindergarten Normal Form!

"can not" is different than "cannot". The first implies that you can chose to not express your joy in words, the latter implies that you do not have the ability to express your joy in words. Please read some basic grammar books, the entire Oxford English Dictionary, and spend some years in England before posting in English again.

If there were any books on standard English then they *really*, *really* shouldn't be codified by the *American* National Standards Institute!

Sorry I missed the original title. Would've liked to see it

But I must say, I have some strong words of my own for the man.

And Aleph_0 was, if I recall correctly, one of Joe's many targets. And if memory serves, one of the few to stand up to him.

I'll take Aleph_0 here every minute over Joe once a year.

As I said before, I've never met Joe, but we have mutual friends -- friends that I respect very much and are well known within our community. But as far as I'm concerned: GOOD RIDDANCE. And I don't believe for a second that Joe has any clue whatsoever about the real world business of administering production database servers. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I know he doesn't.

Tara, you have done more for the SQL Team readership than probably anyone (even Graz maybe). But the best thing you've done recently was to lock his accounts. I can assure you that some of us would be gone if he were still here. And it would be a true shame if he chased off any newbies to other forums (or any "experts"), or to none at all.

By the way, I probably shouldn't mention it, but those who remember RMAIO -- 5,000+ posts in about a year -- he quit coming around because he was offended by one particular user. He has too much class to say so, and too much pride too I suppose. But he is the best DBA I've ever known, and I know a lot of really good ones. I'm good. He's 100 times better than me, and 1,000,000 x better than the person who pissed him off. So SQL Team lost one of the smartest posters ever.

That's what happens when jerks like Celko are allowed to keep badgering folks.

I'm typically pretty polite, so I tend not to blast people when they're being rude. But wow, I can't tell you how many times I felt my blood pressure going up from the way he degraded people. He's never burned me directly, I just can't understand why anyone would get so turned on by smearing people the way he does. I replied to a blog a while back about "newbies" being scared off. If he had been around when I started learning SQL a few years ago, I would have probably given up :)

It was a team decision. I believe Rob initiated the first lock. When Joe continued with his other account, I took care of that one.

I always wondered what had happened to him. Glad to hear he's okay as I had suspected otherwise. I wish he had posted more words with his replies so that we all could have learned from him. If there was a words-to-post contest, he would win for the least amount of words and Kristen would win for the most.

LOL. Kristen is a little more verbose than some

rmaio still moderates a couple of other forums. And yeah, he could say things with the fewest words possible. Sometimes, I catch myself replying like him, then try to explain in a little more detail.
