It's a sad day when arguably the most recognised Australian dies:

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,20349560-661,00.html

He may have come across as a lunatic, but his passion for wildlife was genuine and has done a lot in this country to protect natural habitats.

Sad news. Don't know why I never really like that guy but I do enjoy the show.

I didn't either until I saw a really good interview with him.

I always had a problem with him being genuine, but after I saw that interview I could see that he was. Mental, but genuine.... :-)

Well, at least you'll get a break from the usual question..."Is it true when you flush a toilet in the southern hemi-shere that the water swirls counter-clockwise?"

--

Yeah, that was shocking news. Imagine a stingray barb into the heart. That's got to be one of the flukiest deaths ever.

I don't think he truly respected the creatures he was dealing with. When you see an animal (harmless or dangerous) and immediately run over to pick it up and manipulate it for nothing other than public display, you are not respecting its space. It seems he (and other animal show TV hosts) treated animals like toys. When you don't respect nature, nature will eventually punish you for it.

Damn, have I been seriously misinformed!

I just feel sorry for the poor sod's 8-year old daughter.
Ok, nature programs can be beautiful to watch, but man, just leave the ecosystem be.
Enough messing with Gaia.

In my country, famous physician name Dr. Dolittle say very profoundly "When the beaver offers you a fish...you take the fish." He was truly great animal person, I think.

It’s the kind of thing that can happened if you spend your time messing with dangerous animals.

I saw a show last year called Grizzly Man about a guy who spent years living around grizzly bears. Him and his girlfriend were killed and eaten by bears. I think he was a lot crazier than Steve Irwin.

Yikes! An 8 inch thorn directly into you heart...

The Swedish newspapers writes about a cameraman that has filmed his death and that his family has agreed that the film can be broadcasted worldwide.

ok... the flush direction is the same as the direction the water comes into the toilet which is influenced by pipes
and the spin direction of the water in the pipes.
So yes the flush itself isn't affected by the Coriolis effect. (better description would be that Coriolis effect
is virtally nullified by water's spin)
However If you had a still volume of water that would drain slowly over lenghtier period of time the Coriolis
would kick in and the spin would be different.

I wonder what the great Dr Dolittle says about a fish offering you a beaver?!
