Steve Lasker's FAQ on SQL/e. Don't expect it to be included with SQL Server, sounds like a seperate purchase.

It almost sounded like it would be included with windows, but it did NOT say it clearly.

From what i read, it is basically a SQL CE / Mobile that is rather than restricted in mobile device it is everywhere. It is not a server but a sets DLLs for integration to your application.

one word - weak. who cares about this product.

nobody developed for the PDA market anyway, so it died. I guess they are just moving that codebase to the desktop.

Maybe I am missing the point, but I don't see where this is anything special. Someone educate me.

Strange, I don't get that error. I get :

Syntax error converting the varchar value '900-HOT-BABE' to a column of data type bigint.

That is strange, because the error message you get from a failed varchar to bigint conversion doesn't include the text you are trying to convert.

select convert(bigint,'900-HOT-BABE')

Server: Msg 8114, Level 16, State 5, Line 1
Error converting data type varchar to bigint.

You clearly have not been replying to all the Viagra spam you receive. I always reply for the free samples. Problem solved, no more errors converting '900-HOT-BABE' !
