People from other countries never seem to understand why Americans don't like public transportation.

11/15/2005:
...the driver appeared to be under the influence of something and was extremely agitated...
...The driver was very disoriented and drove about 2 miles an hour. He did not seem to know where to stop and was talking on his cell phone for part of the trip...

I've been doing alot of that of late. Great exercise.

Unfortunatley, coordinating everything when you have a routine, and then a service doesn't appear, kind of is a problem.

Background: The beautiful Township of West Orange, NJ, USA, /in conjuction with the NJ Transit Authority, has been providing a Jittney, or shuttle service, from various pick up points, on various routes, to meet mid-town direct train service into Manhatten.

The township (and I gotta see this contract) hired a third party to run the service. It has mostly been reliable, 95% over three years, and recently descended into non existance. They have fired our best drivers, let the shuttle turn in to disrepair, and at the last straw, stop showing up.

The Mayor has feigned orance of these problems, because he handed an underling the responsiblity for the service. Now the Service is a VERY political and high profile service. Most the riders I speak to say they moved in to town (a lot from the Island) because of the service. Not that other towns don't have the same deal, but W.O. is a very happy medium for all things....

So, the battle has been engaged. The blog, until I can get another website up, is the vehicle for all of the ridership to communicate their problems, and to document the communications with the town.

If it's not documented, then as far as I'm concerned, it didn't happen (a lot of people want their pound of flesh). I am now documenting everything, and building a ridership community base.

I wonder if SQL Server can solve these problems?

Been quite interesting of late. I've had emails from the mayor, Police Cheif and Patrol Commander so far. We are setting up a meeting with them to discuss the issues face to face.

Never underestimate the power of a note with a lot of emails in the cc. Or a public domain weblog.
