Hey, just got back off of a carnival cruise...

Everything was very nice...the food was excellent...(glad I brought my own tequila though, or I'd be broke)...service was impeccable....

Spent 4 days at sea and 1 each at cozumel, ocho rios (jamaca, ja mon), and Grand Caymna....did the river tubing with the family, and the older kids to the mayan ruins...

Played blackjack to 3am everynight....held my own for a week...didn't eat lunch a single day (there is way too much food)....

But....I'm just not the cruise type I guess...maybe if the cruised around the med it might be different...but if I go to the carribean again...I'd rather pick 1 place and get imersed in the local scene...

it was just too....ummm...disney for me....

Got a great shot of Margaritaville from a distance right next to 3rd world poverty....

So, who's been on a cruise, who likes them, who doesn't?

Cruises are for old people, aren't they?

We were going to go on a cruise for our Honeymoon. Instead, we decided to spend 10 days in one location: Cancun, Mexico. So it sounds like this is what you'd have recommended.

The month we are heading there is not the spring break or any other college break time. Getting married on October 29th.

EDIT: And yes....on your honeymoon, you don't want to have to adhere to a schedule....I'd do some research about the area and what's to do....

Deep sea fishing?

Well Halloween in Vegas. Honeymoon is later.

We've got plenty of books on the area and pretty much know what things we definitely want to do already. We are so looking forward to it!

I love cruising - there I said it AND I'm not (that) old.

In fact I'm doing a similar but longer one to Brett at Christmas which is why I'll be in New York for a few days before.

They aren't for everyone of course but they can be a very relaxed/refined sort of affair. I like the fact you get a small idea of what a place is like so you can decide if you'd like to go back and you get to see lots of places that you can't otherwise see easily. I'd certainly never have gone to Talinn or Riga otherwise.

Whale watching in Alaska was the best but we also had a great cruise around the baltic including two days in St Petersberg during the tricentennial.

My lasting memory of Helsinki was sitting in the Jacuzzi drinking the cocktail of the day while watching the sunset over the city while sailing off into the distance.

I think another highlight was getting a text message in the middle of the baltic saying that there was a major virus outbreak at work - how I laughed

The Baltic trip was on a smaller ship which I think on balance I prefer slightly - less food everywhere. I'm still not entirely sure about the bigger ships though have only experienced Princess. They were good but I thought the standard dropped quite a bit on the final day

Alright Brain, you don't like me, and I don't like you. But lets just do this, and I can get back to killing you with beer.

... and during I should hope!

I had dinner on Britannia once, that was pretty good, does that count as going on a cruise?

My inlaws have done a couple of cruises on sailing ships which they rave about. They "sail" for a couple of hours at sunset, getting to the next island, weigh anchor for the night, and then go land-lubbering during the day. So you can come back saying you've sailed round the Carribean, or wherever

Stonkingly large ships, and more of a floating hotel than a Dingy - Clipper ships or summat they are called.

Don't forget the tips...they added on $10/day per person...so I walked on to the boat and immediatley owed $540.00.

Got each kid a soda card so they didn't have to pay for anything. That was $30.00 a pop.

That said, that was way more soda that my kids had in one week for their entire life.

Probably more than they get in 2 months.
