Is it possible to do replications via VPN between SQL7 and SQL 2000. The SQL Server 7 needs to be the publisher while SQL 2000 Server will be the subscriber. Is that possible. I tried to do that last night and I got a message that I need to update the server to sql 2000. Is there any way around it?

Thank you in advance!

Another issue that came up is being able to do replications without registering. Is it possible to do snapshot replications without registering the 2000 Server. The problem seems to be that you cannot register a 2000 server on a sql7 machine.

Any and all help or advice is greatly appreciated.
