Hi,

I am running SQL Serve 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 OS.

When logged in as ether the SA account or as my own local admin account with SQL Server management studio it will not let me create a database. I get this message:

CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5(Access is denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file 'E:\MSSQL\LOGS\testsd_log.ldf'.

I have full access to that directory and can create files in it through windows explorer.

In fact I can't seem to create a database in any folder not just the one listed above!

Please help!

Does the service account of the SQL Server have sufficient privileges to create a file on the folder?

As a test , could create the database in the official directories where you already have "master",model, msdb?
