Hello there.

i am trying to move the tempdb to another location.

just to test i have tried the following.

USE master
GO
ALTER DATABASE TempDB MODIFY FILE
(NAME = tempdev, FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\test\tempdb.mdf')

GO
ALTER DATABASE TempDB MODIFY FILE
(NAME = templog, FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\test\tempdb.ldf')
GO

then i get

Msg 5121, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The path specified by "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\test" is not in a valid directory.

can someone help me out please.

Regards

Rob
