I can't. Most stuff gets answered before I have a chance. It's really only the nastier corruption questions I have a chance on. ;-)

Gail, you've been a great help to me on both sites. A question for you, but it's one I'd love to ask all the regular contributors - why'd you do it? (Hint - "I like to" is an acceptable answer!!)

Yeah, I was thinking about it.
Maybe the reason is that I like it if someone is giving kudos to me...
The other reason is the postcounter

You are hijacking a congratulations thread!

That's a new low

However, in answer to your question:

By answering people's questions you learn a *lot* more about SQL (and sql server) than you would just by reading other people's answers.

And -- it's quite gratifying when you solve someone's problem that they've been struggling with for ages.

Yep, for me it's all about helping others.

And the chicks too, chicks dig guys with skills. You know, like SQL Skills.

It's fun.
It's an excellent way to learn a hell of a lot about SQL, especially things that you won't work with yourself.
It's very satisfying to solve other people's problems (isn't that what development is all about?) especially if you're stuck in a job where you can't do a lot of that.

Oh, you'd be surprised what a conversation piece they can be, in the right hands.
