I happened to be browsing the directory where our ERP data is stored, and noticed the LOG file had not been updated in over a month.

The log file is 1GB to the DB which is 6GB; both are set to grow by 10%, though the log file is limited to 2GB in size.

Is there anything I can do to get the log file, well, logging again?

this is normally just an artifact of the windows display. The updated date is not changed, until all the changes are "committed", if you will. This will only happen, when you restart the service.

Naturally, you should not restart the service just to get this date to update.

Are you telling about the date of logfile?
Do you know there is a physical size of log on disk that is not all in use (same behavior like swapfile of OS)?
Maybe there is no reason to grow at this time because your recovery model is set to simple?

Ah, that makes sense - all the log files in the same directory have the same last modified date, which IIRC was about the last time the server was rebooted.

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.
