I am fairly new to creating new Users in SQL Server 2008 R2 and we use the Windows Log-In mainly.
I have created a log-on to have access to one DB, so that they can import and export tables from SQL via MS Access 2007 without seeing SQL.
the only way to do this is to allocate the User the Alter task, but that gives them lots of permissions I don't want them to have, is there anyway of restricting the log-on to do the work required but minimise ther access?

Just give them db_datareader and db_datawriter.
