                                            | Hi guys,At my work place our database administrators are taking care of all the high level work - pretty much ensuring that servers are running - and we have no visibility into the internal workings of the databases. Sometimes it backfires as things start to slow down or we run out of space and we start to react at that time.In an attempt to be proactive we recently started looking into "SQL Server 2008 Management Data Warehouse" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939169(v=sql.100).aspx. This tool, once set up, would monitor 3 things:- Query performance statistics and use of indexes- Resource locking and blocking- Disk usageIs anyone using this tool? If so, what do you think about it?Is anyone using some other free tools for a similar purpose? Thanks in advance! |
