Hi All,

I have a database in SQL 2005 which i have backed up and restored on SQL server R2 and added some objects to it (i have not changed comptabality level) and now i am trying to backed up and restored it on SQL server 2005.

Its giving an error when i try to to verify.

Msg 3241, Level 16, State 7, Line 1
The media family on device 'E:\DB\Database\Connect_Full.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family.
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally.

Please advise if this is possible or not.

Thanks,

Not possible, the restore will still put 2008 versions of system tables into the backup. Compatibility mode just means it will run like it is 2005, not that you can then go back to 2005.
