I am attempting to query data from sql 2008 and only have 2005 installed on my pc. I am getting "This version of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio can only be used to connect to SQL Server 2000 and sql server 2005 servers"

Can anyone point me to a patch so I can work?

You can install SQL Server 2008 Client tools (or a higher version) on your PC. I don't know of any patch that you can apply to SQL 2005 client tools (SSMS) that will let you connect to a SQL 2008 instance.
