I am new to creating sql jobs. I have just created a sql job and the status has come up as not running.
Is it ideal behaviour when the job is created for the first time? what should be the status when a job is
created for the first time?

Thats the default behaviour unless you set a scehdule for job as current time or manually start it. Also ensure that you've not disabled it explicitly
