Hi All,
I am using an evaluation of SQL SERVER 2008r2. I am using this on my PC to further my skills in SQL. I cannot create an ODBC so that I can connect an Access 2010 database.

Connection Failed:
SQLState: 'HYT00'
SQL Server Error: 0
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired.

I've checked my configurations and everything but SQL SERVER Browser and Agent are running. Ihis in fact, these services are greyed out and I can't start them. but I've been told because not across network; not needed. Is this true? Can anyone help please?
Thanks

srimami

This shouldn't be the case; try creating a link server and see if it works, if this works out ODBC should also work
